Replies from David, usually within one working day

Leeds · UK service businesses

The right enquiries, from a website live in ten working days.

One principal, fixed prices in pounds, and copy written to win the enquiry rather than fill the page.

Live within ten working days of brief lock, or the second half of the invoice waits until it is.

One 20-minute call and a look at what you have now. We write the copy, sort the photos and build it.

Real businesses, named, with the numbers attached.

Every site below is live, every client agreed to be named, and every figure came from their reports rather than ours.

  • As director of a supported living provider, I needed a website that worked for two very different audiences: families making an emotional decision and local authority commissioners checking our credentials. David at Lucent got this immediately. He researched our sector before writing a single word, asked better questions than agencies three times his size, and delivered a website that does exactly the job we briefed. Straightforward to deal with, fast to respond, and honest about what we did and didn't need. If you're looking for web design in Leeds from someone who genuinely thinks about your business rather than pushing a template, I'd recommend David without hesitation.

  • We didn't think a website could feel like us — but this does. Our regulars kept saying it looks exactly like Andrews.

  • I finally feel confident sending clients to my website.

  • Within two weeks of launching the new site, we saw a 37% increase in quote requests. The design isn't just modern, it's built to convert.

  • Really happy with the website. It shows exactly what we do as a business and what we specialise in. Clean and to the point.

  • The website showcases the history of Civcon. When we're tendering for a ducting or surfacing job, clients can go on and see where we've done it before. It shows our expertise, it's clean and simple to navigate, and it's as strong, if not stronger, than a capability statement.

  • My chartered accountant recommended David to me. The first time we got on the phone he said that because I'd come through a referral, he was putting someone's word on the line, and whatever happened he wanted me to be the most satisfied client he had, because he wasn't going to let that referral down.

The awkward questions.

The ones people are too polite to ask on the call.

Why would I pay you when I could build a website myself?

For a basic five pages, you might not need to; we say so on this page, above. What you cannot shortcut is knowing what the page has to say to win in your market, spending money on Google without losing it, and having someone answerable when enquiries drop. That is the invoice.

What happens if you miss the launch date?

Live within ten working days of brief lock, or the second half of the invoice waits until it is. It is written into the agreement, and every build since 2024 has gone live on time.

Do I actually own it?

Yes, outright. The date depends on how you start: on Flexible the site is yours the day the launch fee clears, on Committed at month 12. Either way it is the site, the brand files, the domain and the hosting account. The domain is registered in your name and the hosting is your account billed at cost. There is no version of this where leaving costs you your own website.

Is the monthly compulsory?

It is the product rather than an add-on: one monthly price covers the build, the hosting, the Google Business Profile and the monthly work, and there is no one-off build to buy instead. What you choose is how long you are tied in. Flexible has no minimum term and 30 days' notice in any month. Committed runs 12 months in exchange for waiving the launch fee. The figures are on the pricing page. If your site does not need monthly work we will tell you so rather than sell it to you.

Can you take on a site you didn't build?

Yes. Sites we build are already set up for it. On a site we inherited we'll usually need to fix a few things first, and we'll say what and how much before you commit. What we won't do is promise the same results from day one: our own builds are put together for this from the start, so the work compounds immediately. On an inherited site the first month or two often goes on fixing what is holding it back before anything can be gained.

Why do you turn work away?

Because one person delivers the client work here, with no juniors and no account managers. We say no to roughly 60% of enquiries: SaaS products, marketplaces, custom integrations, and anyone we do not think we would move the number for. Past a certain volume the work degrades, and the work is the whole proposition.

What does the free audit actually involve?

Thirty minutes with David. We name three specific things costing you enquiries, put a rough figure on them, and tell you which package fits, or tell you to go and do it yourself, or to call someone else. No deck, no proposal, no follow-up sequence.

We'll tell you not to bother if that's the right answer.

Thirty minutes with David. Most enquiries get a no, and a reason.
