Replies from David, usually within one working day

SEO services. Judged on enquiries.

Monthly SEO for UK small businesses, judged on the enquiries it produced rather than a chart of rankings nobody searches. Thirty days’ notice, no setup fee.

Live within ten working days of brief lock, or the second half of the invoice waits until it is one 20-minute call and we do the rest price fixed in writing before anything starts

SEO you can actually check. Because most of it isn't.

  1. S01

    Reported on enquiries, not rankings

The reason SEO has the worst trust profile of any digital service is that most of it is unfalsifiable.

A report full of rankings for terms nobody searches proves nothing. Ours leads with qualified enquiries and the searches that produced them, taken from Search Console and your own contact form. If the number does not move, the report says so rather than finding a friendlier metric.

  2. S02

The quick wins first, honestly labelled

Pages already sitting at position eleven to twenty are the cheapest traffic in SEO: Google already ranks them, they just need to be better.

That work can move inside four to eight weeks. Terms you have no visibility for at all take six months and up. We separate the two on the audit call so you know which part of the invoice is fast and which part is patient.

  3. S03

Local search treated as its own job

For most service businesses the map pack matters more than the blue links, and it is won differently: proximity, review volume and a properly built Google Business Profile, not page copy.

Review generation and profile work sit inside the retainer. Where a competitor's town-centre address gives them an advantage we cannot engineer away, we say so instead of billing you to chase it.

  4. S04

Thirty days notice, not twelve months

Three months to start, because nothing meaningful happens in four weeks, then thirty days notice for as long as you stay.

Long lock-ins exist to protect agencies from their own results. Procon 24/7 has been with us four years on that basis, which is the only kind of retention worth having.

How an SEO retainer runs, month by month.

  1. Week 0

    Free audit, before any money

We look at the site live, pull your Search Console, and tell you which terms are realistically winnable and which are not. If SEO is the wrong spend for you right now, that is what the call concludes.

  2. Weeks 1-2

    Fix what is already close

Titles, meta and on-page work for pages already ranking eleven to twenty, plus the technical faults costing you crawl and speed. This is where the first movement comes from.

  3. Weeks 3-4

    Local and profile work

Google Business Profile rebuilt properly, local schema, citation consistency, and a review generation routine you can actually keep up. For local service businesses this is usually the fastest win on the board.

  4. Monthly

    Content, links and the report

New pages against the terms worth owning, internal linking that compounds, and a monthly report leading on enquiries. Every recommendation carries the reason and the expected timescale.

What you get

Three tiers. Fixed monthly.

Scoped on how much ground you need to take, not on how much we think you can afford. Compete is the tier most clients pick. Compete and Dominate can be paid annually at ten times the monthly, which is two months free. Three-month initial term, then thirty days notice.

Not ready to choose? book the free audit and decide after

What you get for it.

  1. 01

You get found by people already looking to buy

Your Google Business Profile run properly rather than just filled in, and local SEO across the towns you actually cover: the searches with a job attached, not vanity terms.

  2. 02

You can count the enquiries, not guess at them

Every enquiry your site produces lands in your inbox and in your dashboard, next to the search that produced it. If it is not working you will see it before we tell you.

  3. 03

You stop thinking about the website

Hosting, security, backups, updates and content changes are in the price. Nothing to renew, nothing to chase, no annual invoice you forgot was coming.

  4. 04

    You own it, outright

Design, copy and code. Yours the day the launch fee clears on Flexible, or at month 12 on Committed. Not rented, not held on our hosting.

Before we start we write down what you get in a normal month. If your site hasn't beaten it by day 90, you leave owing nothing and keep the site.

Every client gets a private members' portal: your site's live performance (traffic, rankings, enquiries) in one place, plus first access to services we don't sell publicly.

Our guarantee: No setup fee. No twelve-month contract. You keep every asset if you leave.

Fixed price agreed in writing before anything starts.

  • I paid an SEO agency before and got nothing. Why would this be different?

Because you can check this one. Most SEO retainers are unfalsifiable by design: the report shows rankings for terms nobody searches and traffic that was arriving anyway. Ours reports the two numbers that decide whether it worked, which are qualified enquiries and the searches that produced them, pulled from Search Console and your own contact form rather than a dashboard we control. If those numbers do not move over a quarter you will see it before we tell you, and you can leave on thirty days notice.

  • How do I know it is actually working?

Search Console and your own enquiry data, monthly, in plain English. Rankings get shown because they are a leading indicator, but they are never the headline. The headline is how many people found you for something they wanted to buy, and how many of them got in touch. Procon 24/7 is the clearest example we have: quote requests up 37% within two weeks of launch, and four years on the numbers still hold.

  • Am I locked into a twelve-month contract?

That is your choice, and it is the only choice. There is one term and it is the same one on every page: on Flexible you pay the launch fee, there is no minimum at all, and you give 30 days' notice in any month owing nothing. On Committed we waive that fee and you commit for 12 months, at which point the site becomes yours outright. The fee buys the right to leave; the term is what pays for waiving it. And either way, if your enquiries have not beaten your own starting number by day 90, you leave owing nothing and keep the site.

  • How long before SEO actually works?

Honestly, it splits in two. Fixing pages you are already close on can move inside four to eight weeks, because the pages exist and Google already knows about them. Winning terms you have no visibility for at all takes six months upwards, and longer on a young domain. Anyone promising page one in thirty days on a competitive term is either lucky or lying. On the audit call we tell you which of your targets are the quick ones and which are the long game, before you pay anything.

  • Do I need a new website before SEO is worth doing?

Sometimes, and we say so even though it is the more expensive answer for you. If the site is slow, unreadable on a phone, or built so new pages cannot be added, retainer spend leaks straight back out of it. If the site is structurally sound and simply under-optimised, which is the more common case, a rebuild would be waste and the retainer is the right spend. The free audit exists to tell the two apart.

  • How much do SEO services cost?

The entry level of it is already inside the membership rather than a separate bill: your Google Business Profile run properly and local SEO across the towns you cover are in the price of the site. If you need more ground than that, there are two higher levels, and what they cost depends on how much of your market you are going after. We put the figure in writing on the audit call before you commit to anything. There is no setup fee, and no term beyond the one you are already on.

  • Do you sell SEO packages, and what do UK SEO packages normally cost?

Yes, three levels. Across the UK market small business SEO packages run roughly £300 to £1,500 a month, with anything under about £250 usually buying a report rather than work, and the top of the range usually buying account management. Ours are tiered by how much ground you are covering rather than by how many "deliverables" get listed: the entry level sits inside the membership itself, and the two above it widen the target list. Every tier is the same hands on the work, with thirty days notice and no setup fee.

  • Do you handle local SEO and Google Business Profile?

Yes, and for a local service business it is usually the highest-value part of the work. Google Business Profile optimisation, review generation, local schema and citation consistency all sit inside the retainer. Being straight about the map pack: those three results at the top are weighted heavily towards proximity and review volume, so a competitor with premises in the town centre and 200 reviews holds an advantage no amount of on-page work erases. We tell you where you can realistically win before you commit.

  • Do you do SEO for ecommerce stores as well as service businesses?

Yes, and it is a different job worth pricing as one. Ecommerce SEO lives or dies on category and product pages, on structured data, and on not letting a thousand near-identical variant URLs eat the crawl budget, none of which a service-business retainer spends time on. We build WooCommerce stores as well, so an ecommerce SEO agency here is the same people who know how the store is put together. If your store is on Shopify or another platform we did not build, that is fine, it just changes what we can reach.

  • What does on-page SEO actually cover, and can I buy just that?

On-page SEO is everything on the page itself: titles, meta descriptions, heading structure, internal links, the content answering what people actually searched, schema, and page speed. It is the half of SEO you fully control, which is why an on-page SEO service is a sensible first purchase when budget is tight. We do sell it as a one-off audit and fix rather than a retainer, and we will tell you honestly when the constraint is off-page instead, because on this site's own numbers that is usually where the real limit sits.

  • Is my business too small for SEO?

Possibly, and that is a real answer rather than a modest one. If nobody searches for what you sell, SEO is the wrong channel and we will point you at a better one instead of taking a retainer for it. If people do search for it, size is not the barrier: a sole trader ranking across one town beats a national brand that ignored local search. We check the actual search volume for your services and your area before recommending anything.

As director of a supported living provider, I needed a website that worked for two very different audiences: families making an emotional decision and local authority commissioners checking our credentials. David at Lucent got this immediately. He researched our sector before writing a single word, asked better questions than agencies three times his size, and delivered a website that does exactly the job we briefed. Straightforward to deal with, fast to respond, and honest about what we did and didn't need. If you're looking for web design in Leeds from someone who genuinely thinks about your business rather than pushing a template, I'd recommend David without hesitation.
