SEO in Yorkshire. Nine markets, not one.

An SEO agency in Leeds working across the county. On 3 August 2026 the map pack for this search in Sheffield was held by businesses with a median of 88 reviews. In Wakefield the median was 9. We plan from your town's numbers rather than a county average, and report on the enquiries it produced.

Live within ten working days of brief lock, or the second half of the invoice waits until it is one 20-minute call and we do the rest price fixed in writing before anything starts

Priced from your town. Not the county average.

Yorkshire is nine markets, not one

On 3 August 2026 the map pack for this search in Sheffield was held by businesses with a median of 88 reviews.

In Wakefield the median was 9. Same county, same search, two completely different jobs: one is a review programme measured in years, the other is winnable this quarter by a business that simply asks its customers properly. Every plan starts from your town's numbers rather than the county's average.

  2. Y02

    Measured, then re-measured

We publish what we found in each market rather than describing it: monthly searches, ranking difficulty, who holds the map pack and with how many reviews. 3 of the 9 Yorkshire markets we track currently have packs soft enough to enter without a two-year run-up.

That is a fact with a date on it, not a permanent condition, which is why it gets checked again rather than left standing.

  3. Y03

    Reported on enquiries, not rankings

A report full of positions for terms nobody searches proves nothing, and it is why SEO has the worst trust profile of any digital service.

Ours leads on qualified enquiries and the searches that produced them, pulled from Search Console and your own contact form. If the number has not moved, the report says so before you have to ask.

    In Yorkshire, not targeting Yorkshire

The studio is in Leeds and most of the client list is within an hour of it: a concrete supplier, roofers, scaffolders, a civils contractor, a fifty-year greengrocer in Holmfirth.

It matters more than it sounds, because the map pack leans hard on genuine proximity, and we would rather tell you on the first call which part of your local search favours a business with premises in the town.

9 cities

Your town, with its own numbers.

Each page below prints the live read for that market rather than the county's: monthly searches, ranking difficulty, cost per click, and who currently holds the map pack with how many reviews. Checked against the search results, dated, and re-checked rather than left standing.

How it works

Thirty days' notice. No twelve-month contract.

No setup fee, and local SEO and Google Business Profile management sit inside the monthly rather than being sold alongside it. You keep every asset if you leave.

What changes by town is not the arrangement. It is which terms we tell you are realistically winnable, and how long we say each one will take.

The awkward questions

What people ask before hiring anyone in Yorkshire

  1. Is Yorkshire SEO not just SEO with a place name on it?

The technical half is the same everywhere and anyone claiming otherwise is selling something. The competitive half is not.

On 3 August 2026 the map pack for this search in Sheffield was held by businesses with a median of 88 reviews. In Wakefield the median was 9. A single county-wide package prices those two markets identically, which means one client is overpaying and the other is under-served. We price and plan from the town.

  2. Every agency on this search claims to be Yorkshire-based. How do I check?

Look for an address on the site, then look for the same address on their Google Business Profile, then look at whether the reviews come from businesses in the region.

A national agency running a Yorkshire landing page will usually have the page and none of the rest. Ours is Leeds, and the client names are on the site rather than described as "a leading regional supplier".

  3. What if my town is not one of the nine?

It changes nothing about whether we will work with you. The nine are the markets where we have pulled the search results properly and can show you the numbers before you commit.

If your town is not among them, the free audit is where we pull it, and you get the same read: what the pack looks like, what it would take, and whether the honest answer is that SEO is the wrong channel for you.

  4. How much of this is the map pack and how much is the rest of the page?

They are separate fights on separate timescales and conflating them is how retainers get sold against the wrong promise.

Google Business Profile and pack work can move inside four to eight weeks because you are correcting signals Google already holds. Organic positions in a market like Sheffield take six months upwards. We quote both timescales separately rather than averaging them into one comfortable number.

  • Is there such a thing as Yorkshire SEO, or is it just SEO?

The technical work is the same everywhere: a site Google can crawl, pages that answer what people search, and a Google Business Profile that is complete and active. What is genuinely regional is the competition, and Yorkshire is not one competitive market. When we last checked the map pack for this search, the businesses holding it in Sheffield had a median of 88 reviews and the top of the band was 210. In Wakefield the median was 9. That is the same county, the same search, and two completely different jobs: one is a two-year review-building programme, the other is winnable this quarter by any business that asks its customers properly. An agency selling "Yorkshire SEO" as one package is selling a plan built for an average that no actual business trades in.

  • How much do SEO services in Yorkshire cost?

Across the county most small businesses are quoted between £300 and £1,000 a month, and the spread has more to do with how the agency is structured than with how much work gets done. Ours is a single monthly with local SEO and Google Business Profile management inside it rather than sold alongside it, thirty days notice and no setup fee. You can see what sits in each tier before you speak to anyone.

  • Do I want an SEO company in Yorkshire, or a consultant?

Both descriptions fit what happens here. David does the work himself, which is what people mean by a consultant, inside a studio that also builds and hosts the site the SEO runs on, which is what people mean by a company. The useful question is not the label. It is whether the person who sold you the retainer is the person who edits your Google Business Profile, and how often they touch it. Ask that of everyone you shortlist and the shortlist gets shorter quickly.

  • Are you actually in Yorkshire, or just targeting the search?

The studio is in Leeds and the client list is mostly Yorkshire businesses: a concrete supplier, roofers in Headingley, scaffolders, a civils contractor, a fifty-year greengrocer in Holmfirth. It matters more than it sounds, because the map pack leans on genuine proximity. We can tell you which part of a search in your town favours a business with premises there, and we would rather do that on the first call than after you have paid for three months.

  • Which Yorkshire towns do you cover?

There are pages for Leeds, Sheffield, Bradford, York, Harrogate, Wakefield, Huddersfield, Halifax and Doncaster, each with the live numbers for that market rather than the same page with a name swapped. Work happens outside those too. The list reflects where we have measured the search results properly, not the limit of where we will take a client.

  • How long does SEO take to work in a Yorkshire market?

It splits, and the split is worth understanding before you buy. Google Business Profile and map pack work can move inside four to eight weeks, because you are correcting signals Google already holds rather than building new ones. Organic positions in a competitive city like Leeds or Sheffield take six months upwards. In the softer markets it is faster. Anybody offering one timescale for a whole county has not looked at the county.

  • Do you cover South Yorkshire specifically?

Yes, and South Yorkshire is a good example of why the county gets treated as separate markets rather than one. Sheffield and Doncaster both have their own pages built on their own measured search results, and they are not remotely the same job: Sheffield is one of the harder map packs in the region, Doncaster is one of the softer ones. Rotherham and Barnsley are worked as part of the same programme without a page each, because a page for a town we have not measured properly is padding. If you are searching for an SEO agency in South Yorkshire, ask any shortlist which of those four they have actually looked at the results for.

  • Is search engine optimisation in Yorkshire more competitive than elsewhere?

Less than London and more than most of the north, but the county average is a useless number. Leeds and Sheffield are genuinely competitive, with established agencies and review counts in the hundreds. Wakefield, Halifax and Doncaster are not, and a business in one of those towns is frequently three or four decent reviews and a properly filled Google Business Profile away from the map pack. The mistake is buying a plan priced for Leeds when you trade in Halifax, or a plan priced for Halifax when you are trying to win Leeds.

As director of a supported living provider, I needed a website that worked for two very different audiences: families making an emotional decision and local authority commissioners checking our credentials. David at Lucent got this immediately. He researched our sector before writing a single word, asked better questions than agencies three times his size, and delivered a website that does exactly the job we briefed. Straightforward to deal with, fast to respond, and honest about what we did and didn't need. If you're looking for web design in Leeds from someone who genuinely thinks about your business rather than pushing a template, I'd recommend David without hesitation.
