## The report starts with what reached your business

The order is agreed before the first month begins. That stops a weak enquiry number being buried under a stronger impressions chart later.

1. 01
**Verified enquiries from the website and agreed call actions**
2. 02
**Cost per enquiry where a paid or separately costed input can be attributed**
3. 03
**The searches and landing pages that produced those enquiries**
4. 04
**Positions as a leading indicator, never the commercial result**
5. 05
**Impressions and clicks as diagnostic context only**

## What can move soon, and what cannot.

SEO becomes hard to trust when every term is put on the same clock. These are two different jobs, with two different starting conditions, and the audit separates them before the retainer begins.

### Four to eight weeks.

For pages Google already ranks just outside the useful results.

- The page already sits around positions eleven to twenty, so Google has accepted its relevance.
- Titles, internal links, content gaps and technical faults can be fixed without waiting for a new page to earn its first signal.
- These are labelled quick wins on the audit, not mixed into a six-month promise.

Movement is plausible here because the visibility already exists. The audit identifies these pages before any invoice.

### Six months and up.

For searches where the site has no visibility and no supporting authority yet.

- New pages need to be discovered, understood and trusted before they can compete.
- Competitive terms need supporting content and links, not a title change and patience sold as work.
- The timescale depends on the market, the existing site and the gap to the businesses already ranking.

This is the patient half of SEO. Lucent names it separately so a buyer is not sold six months of waiting as one vague package.

## Local search is not a smaller version of SEO.

For many service businesses the map pack matters more than the blue links. It is won through proximity, review volume and a properly built Google Business Profile. A competitor with a town-centre address and a deep review history can hold an advantage that page copy does not erase, and David will say so before billing you to chase it.

## Search work with a visible starting point.

Procon 24/7 shows the value of a client staying for years, Birkinshaw Aesthetics shows content and E-E-A-T work without a redesign, and Dunnrite Scaffolding shows a service site structured around how local buyers search. Each case is named and checkable.

## How an SEO retainer runs, month by month.

1. Week 0
  ### Free audit, before any money
David looks at the site live, reviews Search Console with you, and separates terms already close from terms that need authority built. If SEO is the wrong spend right now, that is what the call concludes.

01

### Fix what is already close

Weeks 1-2

Titles, meta and on-page work for pages already ranking eleven to twenty, plus the technical faults costing crawl and speed. This is where the earliest movement can come from.

02

### Local and profile work

Weeks 3-4

Google Business Profile, local schema, citation consistency and a review routine the business can keep up. For local services this is a separate job from ranking blue links.

03

### Content, links and the report

Monthly

New pages against terms worth owning, internal linking that compounds, and a monthly report leading on enquiries. Every recommendation carries its reason and expected timescale.

**The same four stages, in detail**

## What the retainer covers.

The scope is set by the ground the site needs to take, not by what David thinks the business can afford. The figure comes on the audit call after the current visibility, site and market have been seen.

### What you get for it.

01

### You get found by people already looking to buy

Your Google Business Profile run properly rather than just filled in, and local SEO across the towns you actually cover: the searches with a job attached, not vanity terms.

02

### You can count the enquiries, not guess at them

Every enquiry your site produces lands in your inbox and in your dashboard, next to the search that produced it. If it is not working you will see it before we tell you.

03

### You stop thinking about the website

Hosting, security, backups, updates and content changes are in the price. Nothing to renew, nothing to chase, no annual invoice you forgot was coming.

04

### You own it, outright

Design, copy and code. Yours the day the launch fee clears on Flexible, or at month 12 on Committed. Not rented, not held on our hosting.

Before we start we write down what you get in a normal month, and every monthly report measures against it.

Every client gets a private members' portal: your site's live performance (traffic, rankings, enquiries) in one place, plus first access to services we don't sell publicly.

**In writing:** No setup fee. No twelve-month contract. You keep every asset if you leave.

Fixed price agreed in writing before anything starts.

## What a burned SEO buyer should ask before signing again.

Measurement, timescale, ownership and whether the site needs rebuilding first. All eleven questions stay open to inspection.

**Not answered here?** Ask David directly. He replies himself, usually within one working day.

**01 I paid an SEO agency before and got nothing. Why would this be different?**

Because you can check this one. Most SEO retainers are unfalsifiable by design: the report shows rankings for terms nobody searches and traffic that was arriving anyway. Ours reports the two numbers that decide whether it worked, which are qualified enquiries and the searches that produced them, pulled from Search Console and your own contact form rather than a dashboard we control. If those numbers do not move over a quarter you will see it before we tell you, and you can leave on thirty days notice.

**02 How do I know it is actually working?**

Search Console and your own enquiry data, monthly, in plain English. Rankings get shown because they are a leading indicator, but they are never the headline. The headline is how many people found you for something they wanted to buy, and how many of them got in touch. Procon 24/7 is the clearest example we have: quote requests up 37% within two weeks of launch, and nearly five years on the numbers still hold.

**03 Am I locked into a twelve-month contract?**

That is your choice, and it is the only choice. There is one term and it is the same one on every page: on Flexible you pay the launch fee, there is no minimum at all, and you give 30 days' notice in any month owing nothing. On Committed we waive that fee and you commit for 12 months, at which point the site becomes yours outright. The fee buys the right to leave; the term is what pays for waiving it.

**04 How long before SEO actually works?**

Honestly, it splits in two. Fixing pages you are already close on can move inside four to eight weeks, because the pages exist and Google already knows about them. Winning terms you have no visibility for at all takes six months upwards, and longer on a young domain. Anyone promising page one in thirty days on a competitive term is either lucky or lying. On the audit call we tell you which of your targets are the quick ones and which are the long game, before you pay anything.

**05 Do I need a new website before SEO is worth doing?**

Sometimes, and we say so even though it is the more expensive answer for you. If the site is slow, unreadable on a phone, or built so new pages cannot be added, retainer spend leaks straight back out of it. If the site is structurally sound and simply under-optimised, which is the more common case, a rebuild would be waste and the retainer is the right spend. The free audit exists to tell the two apart.

**06 How much do SEO services cost?**

The entry level of it is already inside the membership rather than a separate bill: your Google Business Profile run properly and local SEO across the towns you cover are in the price of the site. If you need more ground than that, there are two higher levels, and what they cost depends on how much of your market you are going after. We put the figure in writing on the audit call before you commit to anything. There is no setup fee, and no term beyond the one you are already on.

**07 Do you sell SEO packages, and what do UK SEO packages normally cost?**

Yes, three levels. Across the UK market small business SEO packages run roughly £300 to £1,500 a month, with anything under about £250 usually buying a report rather than work, and the top of the range usually buying account management. Ours are tiered by how much ground you are covering rather than by how many "deliverables" get listed: the entry level sits inside the membership itself, and the two above it widen the target list. Every tier is the same hands on the work, with thirty days notice and no setup fee.

**08 Do you handle local SEO and Google Business Profile?**

Yes, and for a local service business it is usually the highest-value part of the work. Google Business Profile optimisation, review generation, local schema and citation consistency all sit inside the retainer. Being straight about the map pack: those three results at the top are weighted heavily towards proximity and review volume, so a competitor with premises in the town centre and 200 reviews holds an advantage no amount of on-page work erases. We tell you where you can realistically win before you commit.

**09 Do you do SEO for ecommerce stores as well as service businesses?**

Yes, and it is a different job worth pricing as one. Ecommerce SEO lives or dies on category and product pages, on structured data, and on not letting a thousand near-identical variant URLs eat the crawl budget, none of which a service-business retainer spends time on. We build WooCommerce stores as well, so an ecommerce SEO agency here is the same people who know how the store is put together. If your store is on Shopify or another platform we did not build, that is fine, it just changes what we can reach.

**10 What does on-page SEO actually cover, and can I buy just that?**

On-page SEO is everything on the page itself: titles, meta descriptions, heading structure, internal links, the content answering what people actually searched, schema, and page speed. It is the half of SEO you fully control, which is why an on-page SEO service is a sensible first purchase when budget is tight. We do sell it as a one-off audit and fix rather than a retainer, and we will tell you honestly when the constraint is off-page instead, because on this site's own numbers that is usually where the real limit sits.

**11 Is my business too small for SEO?**

Possibly, and that is a real answer rather than a modest one. If nobody searches for what you sell, SEO is the wrong channel and we will point you at a better one instead of taking a retainer for it. If people do search for it, size is not the barrier: a sole trader ranking across one town beats a national brand that ignored local search. We check the actual search volume for your services and your area before recommending anything.

## What is actually winnable in your city.

Each city page carries a read of that market: who holds the map pack, what the organic results underneath reward, and the constraint David will not promise away.
